Today a few of us were talking about "safe" sunscreens. Here's the link to the EWG's (Environmental Working Group) top sunscreen picks.

After looking through today, it looks like I'm going to be looking for Coppertone's Water Babies Pure & Simple, but I noticed the CVS and Walgreens brands are on the list as well. But there are TONS of other options that they recommend. They are also working on the 2012 list, but their deadlines for companies to submit their formulations is March 23, so who knows when this year's list will be out.
Here's what EWG says about themselves:
At EWG, our team of scientists, engineers, policy experts, lawyers and computer programmers pores over government data, legal documents, scientific studies and our own laboratory tests to expose threats to your health and the environment, and to find solutions. Our research brings to light unsettling facts that you have a right to know.

I'm so glad you posted this Katie! I thought since I had the "chemical-free" Burt's Bees brand, we would be fine, but they only got a "moderately safe" rating. I'm buying some new stuff this week! I also need to get a floppy hat for Clark . . .
ReplyDeleteYeah, some of the ratings were a surprise to me too! Let me know where you get your hat. I desperately need one for Sarah and should get one for Nathan as well.
